FAQ

General Questions

What is MemeTrade?

MemeTrade is a decentralized platform for creating, trading, and investing in meme tokens. Built on Base, it allows anyone to launch their own meme token with custom economics and viral mechanics, while providing sustainable liquidity mining rewards.

Is MemeTrade safe to use?

Yes, MemeTrade prioritizes security:

  • Smart contracts are audited by top firms (Trail of Bits, Consensys Diligence)

  • Built on Base, a secure Layer 2 solution by Coinbase

  • Open source code available on GitHub

  • Active bug bounty program up to $50,000

What blockchains does MemeTrade support?

Currently, MemeTrade operates on:

  • Base Mainnet (primary network)

  • Base Sepolia (testnet for development)

We may expand to other networks based on community demand.

How much does it cost to use MemeTrade?

  • Token Creation: Gas fees only (~$1-5 on Base)

  • Trading: 0.3% platform fee + gas fees

  • Liquidity Mining: Gas fees only

  • Portfolio Tracking: Free

Token Creation

How do I create a token?

  1. Connect your Web3 wallet to MemeTrade

  2. Navigate to the "Create" page

  3. Fill in token details (name, symbol, description, image)

  4. Configure token economics and viral mechanics

  5. Review settings and deploy

  6. Pay gas fees to deploy your token

See our detailed guide for step-by-step instructions.

What information do I need to create a token?

Required:

  • Token name and symbol

  • Total supply

  • Initial price in ETH

  • Token description

  • Token image/logo

Optional:

  • Creator fee percentage (0-5%)

  • Viral mechanics (holder rewards, burn mechanisms)

  • Community event triggers

Can I modify my token after creation?

Most token parameters are immutable after deployment for security and trust. However, creators can:

  • Update token description and metadata

  • Adjust viral mechanics (if enabled)

  • Modify creator fee within limits

  • Add liquidity to pools

Why isn't my token showing up?

Common reasons:

  • Transaction still pending (wait 1-2 minutes)

  • Insufficient gas fees (increase gas and retry)

  • Network congestion (try again later)

  • Browser cache (refresh page or clear cache)

Check your wallet's transaction history to see if deployment succeeded.

Trading

How do I buy tokens?

  1. Go to a token's page

  2. Connect your wallet

  3. Enter the amount of ETH you want to spend

  4. Review the quote (tokens you'll receive)

  5. Click "Buy" and confirm the transaction

  6. Tokens will appear in your wallet

How do I sell tokens?

  1. Go to the token's page

  2. Switch to "Sell" tab

  3. Enter the amount of tokens to sell

  4. Review the quote (ETH you'll receive)

  5. Click "Sell" and confirm the transaction

  6. ETH will appear in your wallet

Why are my trades failing?

Common issues:

  • Insufficient gas: Increase gas fees

  • Slippage too low: Increase slippage tolerance to 1-3%

  • Low liquidity: Large trades may fail in low-liquidity pools

  • Network congestion: Try again during lower usage

What is slippage?

Slippage is the difference between expected and actual trade prices. On MemeTrade:

  • 0.5%: Good for stable, high-liquidity tokens

  • 1-2%: Standard for most trades

  • 3-5%: May be needed for volatile or low-liquidity tokens

Liquidity Mining

How does liquidity mining work?

  1. Provide equal amounts of ETH and tokens to a pool

  2. Receive LP (Liquidity Provider) tokens representing your share

  3. Earn rewards based on:

    • Trading fees from the pool

    • Platform liquidity mining rewards

    • Token-specific creator incentives

How do I add liquidity?

  1. Go to a token's page

  2. Click "Add Liquidity"

  3. Enter amounts of ETH and tokens (ratio is automatic)

  4. Confirm the transaction

  5. Start earning rewards immediately

When can I remove liquidity?

You can remove liquidity anytime by:

  1. Going to your portfolio

  2. Finding the liquidity position

  3. Clicking "Remove Liquidity"

  4. Choosing percentage to remove (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%)

  5. Confirming the transaction

What are impermanent losses?

Impermanent loss occurs when token prices change relative to when you provided liquidity. The loss is "impermanent" because it disappears if prices return to original levels. Consider:

  • Low volatility: Minimal impermanent loss

  • High volatility: Higher potential losses

  • Rewards: Often offset impermanent losses over time

Wallet & Security

Which wallets are supported?

  • MetaMask (recommended)

  • Coinbase Wallet

  • WalletConnect-compatible wallets

  • Rainbow Wallet

  • Trust Wallet

How do I add Base network to MetaMask?

  1. Open MetaMask

  2. Click network dropdown

  3. Select "Add Network"

  4. Use these settings:

    • Network Name: Base

    • RPC URL: https://mainnet.base.org

    • Chain ID: 8453

    • Currency Symbol: ETH

    • Block Explorer: https://basescan.org

I don't see my tokens in my wallet

  1. Check if you're on the correct network (Base)

  2. Add the token contract address manually:

    • Click "Import tokens" in your wallet

    • Paste the token contract address

    • Token details should auto-populate

  3. Refresh your wallet or browser

How do I protect my wallet?

  • Never share your seed phrase or private keys

  • Use hardware wallets for large amounts

  • Verify contract addresses before interacting

  • Be cautious of phishing sites

  • Keep your wallet software updated

Technical Issues

The website won't load

  1. Check your internet connection

  2. Try refreshing the page (Ctrl+F5 or Cmd+Shift+R)

  3. Clear browser cache and cookies

  4. Try an incognito/private window

  5. Check status.memetrade.com for outages

Transactions are taking forever

Base network congestion can cause delays:

  • Normal: 1-5 minutes

  • Congested: 10-30 minutes

  • Heavily congested: 1+ hours

You can speed up transactions by increasing gas fees in your wallet.

I sent tokens to the wrong address

Blockchain transactions are irreversible. If you:

  • Sent to a wrong wallet address: Tokens are lost unless you control that address

  • Sent to a contract address: May be permanently locked

  • Made a typo: Double-check the address next time

Always verify addresses before sending transactions.

Platform Features

What are creator fees?

Creator fees are a percentage of each trade that goes to the token creator:

  • Set during token creation (0-5%)

  • Incentivizes token creation and promotion

  • Paid automatically with each trade

  • Can be claimed by creators anytime

How do viral mechanics work?

Viral mechanics are special features that can be enabled:

  • Holder Rewards: Distribute tokens to existing holders

  • Burn Mechanism: Reduce supply over time

  • Community Events: Special mechanics triggered by milestones

These create engaging tokenomics and encourage community participation.

What is governance?

MemeTrade governance allows the community to:

  • Vote on platform upgrades

  • Propose new features

  • Adjust platform parameters

  • Allocate development funds

Governance power is distributed to token holders and liquidity providers.
